Nursery
This week in Nursery, we have been exploring our technology toys. We liked clicking the buttons on the phones and making phone calls. We also liked tapping the keys on the keyboards.
We’ve also spent lots of time in the garden exploring our favourite areas/toys. We had a fun water tray activity with sea creatures and fishing nets, spent time in the sand pit building sandcastles, and enjoyed our toy dinosaurs and making them roar!
Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten, we had lots of opportunities to mark make in our art studio. We’ve used dinosaur dough cutters and made the dinosaurs stomp all over our paper! We’ve also been talking about shapes and then having a go at painting them! We looked at circles and used our paintbrushes to create our own circles on the paper.
We adapted ‘Shark in the Park’ to ‘Shark in the Sea’ for a fun tuff tray activity. We had blue-coloured foam for the sea and cornflakes to represent the sand. We enjoyed moving the sharks around the different textures we could feel.
Pre-School
This week in Pre-School, we learned about Hula dancing from Lilo and Stitch, and Moana. Anouska showed us a video on the iPad of the Warriors dancing to show they were strong and healthy. We learned that the skirt was called a Pa’u. We made our own by looping strips of material over a belt and tied them up. When everyone had made a skirt, we did a group dance.
We were shown how to plait using some spare mop heads! An adult showed us how to braid the strands so that they formed a long plait. We had a good go at copying the techniques and then decorated them with felt tips afterward.
We made paper helicopters with Leona, she showed us a picture of Doraemon who flies around in the sky with a yellow helicopter hat on his head. We made some marks on our little helicopters, then we cut the paper by chasing the lines on the paper. After that, we glued the two ends of the paper together and our helicopters were complete! We flew our helicopters in the garden afterward.
