Nursery
This week in Nursery, to commemorate Remembrance Day on Monday, we had lots of different activities to get involved in. We used sponges that were shaped to look like poppies to print onto paper with and a tuff tray filled with different textures to explore!
An adult rolled out some large rolls of paper on the floor and we had the opportunity to use our favourite mark-making tools, such as chalk, paint, paint dabbers, and more! It was a great way to practice our fine motor skills.
Some of us also took a trip to the park this week, it was great fun getting outdoors and playing with children from Kindergarten and Pre-School too!
Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten, we commemorated Remembrance Day by creating poppies using our handprints. We used green paint to make them stand out as if they were in a field full of poppies! We also had a sensory tuff tray with pasta to represent the poppy. We used the jugs to scoop the pasta up and pour it back out again.
We’ve also had fun exploring playdough that an adult helped us make. We used cutters to chop the dough up and imagined we were having pancakes and worms for tea!
Pre-School
This week Pre-School, we have been learning about Remembrance Day and to mark the occasion, we used a variety of different painting, sticking, and printing methods to make some of our own poppies. We used things like potatoes to print the flowers, we were very pleased with all of our creations!
We have been celebrating World Kindness Day by making cards to send to staff, other nurseries, and the local community to say ‘thank you’ for all the hard work everyone puts in to look after us and our community.
Some of us have been working hard on our letter recognition by practicing writing and playing games with spelling cards. We sounded out the letters in front of us and how they come together to make words.
