This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week Nursery took a trip to the dining room to make their own snack! Under supervision from the adults, we used child appropriate 'dog knives' to push down on our bananas and pears to make bite sized pieces. This gave us a great sense of achievement - yummy!

There was a lovely messy invitation to play this week, a tray full of rice, cereal, foam and toy dinosaurs. We got stuck in, mixing both the dry and sticky textures together and stomping the dinosaurs across the tray!

There was also lots of outdoor play this week! We ventured to the front garden where we confidently rode on the scooters and bikes around the racetrack. We also explored the interstars, working out how to link the pieces together to create larger shapes!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we explored the top garden! We were challenged to find the animals from our Core Book 'Monkey Puzzle'. We've been reading and re-reading the story this term so we've got a great awareness of the characters in the story and what to look out for!

Back inside in the art studio we explored painting with the trains! We grabbed the trains confidently in our hands and moved them through the paint. We experimented with repeating the back and forth motion all over our paper!

We have also explored sensory rice. We enjoyed the repeated process of pouring, scooping and emptying it using different containers!

Pre-School

This week Pre-School we explored numbers using dice! We took turns to roll the die, and challenged ourselves to recognise the number it had landed on. We did a great job of counting up to six! We then had to find the correct amount of building blocks to correspond to the number we had. After that our play developed into a game of skittles!

We also explored a group activity using straws! We were encouraged to blow across the dollops of paint with our straws, to see what would happen next. We noticed the paint created long, wriggly patterns! We experimented with blowing softly and stronger to see what would happen.

Out in the garden we got stuck into an activity related to our Core Book - Shark in the Park! Using our telescopes we searched around to see what we could spot. Anouska had cleverly folded up images and cut a hole through one half, so we could only see a small circle! When we found one we talked about what the full image might be.
