This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week we have enjoyed making a cauldron picture by dipping a cup in a mixture of water, dish soap and paint! We pressed the cup on the paper which made circles representing bubbles. Alongside this we had a big cauldron painted onto our whiteboard and made marks around the cauldron to make it look like it was bubbling over with potions!

We enjoyed some fruit tasting this week! Our adult cut up pieces of lime, lemon, mango, orange, banana, pear and pineapple! It was great fun exploring the different tastes and textures of the fruit, some which we preferred to others!

We’ve also had some fun activities set up based around one of our favourite books - ‘Rainbow Fish’! We liked listening to the story and looking at the different fishes on the wooden circles. We then moved onto a split tray activity where we had coloured rice and colourful pompoms to explore.

Kindergarten

In Kindergarten this week, we have enjoyed reading the story ‘Day Monkey, Night Monkey’ – we used our story sack with puppets in it to help re-tell the story. We had lots of fun using the puppets to bring the characters to life!

With all the rain we’ve been having it was only right we went out, when it had stopped, to splash around in the puddles in the top garden! We played a game of chase together with our friends and enjoyed being out in the fresh air.

We had a fun sensory activity set up using bubble wrap and paint. We dipped the bubble wrap into the paint and printed it onto our paper, we loved seeing the different patterns it created and mixing our favourite colours together.

Pre-School

Following on from a child’s interest in x-rays, we decided to talk about them in more detail and what they might be used for! We looked at some pictures of real x-rays and discussed the bones and joints we could see and where they are in our bodies. Afterwards, we made our own x-ray pictures by using cotton buds, straws and felt.

We’ve started some Halloween celebrations this week by carving our pumpkin! We watched as Zoe cut the top off and carved the face into the side of the pumpkin and then showed us what it looked like inside, we took it in turns to scoop the flesh and seeds out – we enjoyed feeling the different textures of the pumpkin!

Some of us decided to make our own pumpkin instead, we collected items around the room that were brown and orange. Once we had collected them all up, we laid them out on the floor in the shape of a pumpkin!
