Nursery
This week in Nursery we have enjoyed some mark making with our paint sticks, we chose the colours we wanted to use and took the lids off, we dabbed the paint onto the paper and loved seeing all the different marks we made.
Our sensory tuff tray was full of new and exciting toys to explore, we weren’t sure on how some of them worked at first so an adult guided us and once we got the hang of them, we had a great time exploring!
We also spent some time outside on the trikes and went fishing for crabs in the tuff tray, it was very cold so we wrapped up warm and had lots of fun with our peers.
Kindergarten
After reading our core book ‘Monkey Puzzle’ we enjoyed making our own butterflies like the one in the story. We then folded the paper in half to print the paint onto the other side to make our marks symmetrical.
We enjoyed looking at the flower beds in the font garden to see if anything was growing. We talked about the different seasons and how plants grow from seeds.
We have also enjoyed some messy play this week in the theme of a farm yard. Our animals explored the ‘mud’ in the tray and we even got a bit messy ourselves!
Pre-School
There was a carnival happening in Venice this week so it was a great opportunity to make masks! Anouska showed us some photos of the masks they had so we had a go at creating our own using sequins, feathers and more!
It was National Nest Box Week, so we decided to make some bird feeders in the top garden. We talked about what food the birds like to eat, we rolled some lard into a ball and rolled it into a tray full of seeds so they would stick.
We also made some birds’ nests by collecting lots of sticks, twigs, moss and leaves out in the garden. When we went inside, Kelly showed us the paper mache technique, we helped glue the shredded paper onto the balloon to make the base of our nest. When the base was done, we glued on the material from the garden.
