Out in our rooftop garden, we’ve been enjoying using our ‘kitchen area’ with a toaster, kettle and all sorts of kitchen equipment – some of us made our adults a ‘cup of tea’ whist some of us enjoyed exploring and plane spotting!
We loved exploring our under water themed tuff tray this week! We scooped the ‘shells’ into the bowl using the spoons provided and then poured them back out into the sea!
Our playdough had a spooky theme to it this week, we used our special cutters to press into our dough that we had rolled out and liked taking the shapes away to see them imprinted into the dough.
This week in Kindergarten we’ve spent time in the garden collecting conkers, there have been lots of them falling from surrounding trees recently so it was only right we went on a scavengers hunt! We collected them up in some spare plant pots and once we had finished collecting them, we counted out loud how many conkers we had.
In the front garden some of us were making autumnal pictures, using leaves and pipe cleaners. We enjoyed using the PVA glue to help stick the objects to our paper, once we had finished we took it inside to dry ready to take home later on!
In the art studio, an adult had made some dried pasta look like spiders! They were in the tuff tray along with some tweezers and we had to use them to pick all the spiders out. This was a great way to practice our fine motor skills and took lots of concentration!
My spider climbed up its web! We recently watched a video about how spiders create their webs, revealing how hard they work to trap insects for food. This made us want make our own spiders using black circles with eight holes where we tied pipe cleaners for legs. It was a fun way to learn about a fascinating creature!
We learnt about how we should treat foxes in the wild this week. We said that we should be kind to them, but not to feed them in case we make them poorly. We also learnt that we should keep our distance to keep us safe. We then made foxes out of leaves! We picked orange leaves and stuck them to our paper, we added googly eyes as well.
We’ve spent time out in the garden this week and we’ve especially enjoyed our mud kitchen! We got all the equipment we needed to get mixing, scooping and whisking to make… magical potions!
