This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week we have looked at our Core Book for this term - The Rainbow Fish! An activity was set up as an invitation to play with lots of different coloured fabrics, coloured sensory shapes and much more! The children explored the book as they listened as their adult read it as they were exploring. We hid underneath the coloured fabrics, balanced mirrors on our head and explored our story spoons!

As we are getting closer to Halloween, we have had lots of spooky activities set up this week! The children enjoyed using spoons to fill bowls up and sprinkled the rice down from up high. We also had some spiders and pumpkins to look at.

The babies absolutely love getting messy with shredded paper. This week we have had a big tray full of it which was enjoyed by all! An adult hid mini pumpkins amongst the paper for the children to search and they were very impressed when they could find them all.

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten, we looked at our Core Book ‘Pirates love Underpants’. We chose the Underpants we liked the best, then we listened to the story. We then made telescopes and decorated our telescopes using the coloured pencils. We then looked through our telescopes at the sharks in the book and all the things we could see around us!

We explored lots of different textures inside our tuff tray! We mixed cornflour, water, dye, rice, flour and chia seeds too! We got really messy but had so much fun in the gloop.

In the front garden, we had lots of fun investigating the tuff tray with leaves, plants and some lizards hidden in there too. Some of us wanted to water the plants and flowers we have growing in the garden so we also took care of those

Pre-School

In Pre-School this week, we have been learning about insects. We learnt that butterflies and bees have wings and snails have shells on their backs! Afterwards, we painted some insects using our stencils.

With the change of weather, we have been talking about Autumn. We learnt about the different seasons throughout the year and that during Autumn time, leaves start to change colour and fall off the trees. We looked at the different colours of the leaves and talked about the textures and shapes. We then created our own trees using the leaves and sticks.

Halloween is coming up and we’ve been getting excited about it! We talked about what we see at Halloween – pumpkins, bats, potions and spiders… and mummies!! Leona gave us a cut out of the mummy and we decorated them with masking tape and wiggly eyes.
