This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week Nursery we got stuck into a multi sensory invitation to play! In the tuff tray there was rice, pasta, cereal and flour, as well as some toy vehicles. At first we moved the trucks over the top, enjoying the crunching noises! We then used our hands to investigate further, picking up the small pieces of pasta and mixing everything together.

We took our play outside lots this week to enjoy the warm weather! We particularly enjoyed a colour matching activity, which was a great opportunity to develop our communication and language! As we matched the people into the correct cup, the adults named each colour one by one.

We also had a splashing good time with a water tray! We experimented with using different containers for the water, pouring it into jugs and bowls before tipping it all back into the tray with a big SPLASH!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we've been looking after the plants in the front garden! We understand that flowers need sunshine and water to grow tall. It's been such a sunny warm week, so we gave them a good drink with our watering cans!

Amy had set up a messy play farm tray for us this week, which we got stuck into - exploring all the different elements! We got very messy with the flour and cocoa powder, discovering we could blow on it to make it go everywhere! We also recognised the different farm animals and recreated the noises they make.

In the Water World we had a go at giving our toy babies a bath! We dipped them into the warm foamy water and used cloths to make sure they were all clean. We really enjoyed using the jugs to scoop up the water and pour it out again!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we had the chance to try some sewing! Anouska bought in some large plastic needles for us to use. She explained we had to thread the wool through the hole at the top, called the eye. We then pulled the needle through material - up, down and pull! When we finished Anouska helped us put a knot in the end so the thread wouldn't unravel.

This lovely sunny week we spent lots of time outside! In the top garden we went on a Spring Scavenger hunt. Chloe had created a list of Spring objects to look out for, we found lots of them and showed the adults excitedly when we did.

Sunny days also brought an opportunity to learn about shadows! We had lots of different shapes in the tray, and we talked about the shadows they cast. We understood that the sun creates the shadows. Whilst we were tracing around them, they suddenly disappeared - oh no! We found out that if someone or something is in front of the shape, the shadow disappeared!
