This Week at Coombe Dingle

Nursery

This week in Nursery we really enjoyed painting with the mega blocks! We dabbed them into a tray of paint, then stamped them all over the paper to leave marks. After a while we progressed to using our hands and fingers, blending all the colours together!

We've also spent lots of time on our baby gym this week. We loved crawling up the stairs, paying peekaboo through the tunnel and then whizzing down the slide - ready to start all over again!

We've also had a splashing good time with a water activity, exploring a tray full of bubbly water, sea animals and fishing nets! We thought it was lots of fun to make big splashes in the water, and we discovered we could make the water move by pushing the sea creatures through it!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we explored our 'tap tap' box! The box is filled with different prompts for songs we could sing. We took turns to tap-tap-tap on the box and pick out a tune! We did a great job of singing along to each one.

We've also been exploring our new Core Book for January - Monkey Puzzle! We have explored the book, both independently and in groups, and used the animal puppets to act out the story!

We've also taken lots of trips to the Red Bus Library. This week we really enjoyed the light up whiteboards, using dry-wipe markers to make shapes and patterns all over it. Afterwards we realised we could wipe it all clean - wow!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School we explored marble painting! We used an interesting new medium - seed paper. We all took a look at the paper before we started painting, noticing it was a bit bumpy and had small spots in it. Leona explained that if we put the seed paper into soil, it would grow into a plant! We then used droppers to pick up watercolours and mix them with squishy foam. We then pressed our seed paper onto the top, lifting it off to reveal a lovely pattern!

Our core book for this term is Shark in the Park, so we sat down to read it this week. We looked through the book and began to copy the various refrains throughout the story. After we finished reading we made our very own telescope just like Timothy Pope's!

We also worked together to make pictures using chilly ice paint! We added paint and water to ice cube trays and froze them with a lolly stick in them, to use as a handle. We then sat together to make marks on paper, noticing how the ice was beginning to melt!
