Nursery
This week in Nursery we've been getting stuck into lots of Halloween themed activities to celebrate the spooky season!
We got stuck into a tray full of red rice, chia seeds and googly eyes. We loved the mix of dry and wet textures, mixing it all together with our hands and scooping it up to put into bowls!
We tried decorating some biscuits, using orange icing to make them look just like pumpkins! We used spoons to pick up the icing and spread it all over biscuit, we also found the little pumpkins on the table really funny too!
We've also been creating with playdough, making funny faces! We were encouraged to use googly eyes and pipecleaners to make faces, as we did this the adults asked if we could pull a funny face too!
Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten, we made some bird feeders to hang up in the garden. We started off by covering toilet rolls in lard and had a tray full of bird feed, so we rolled the toilet rolls into the tray and noticed the food stuck! Some of us sprinkled the food over and moved the tray around so that the cardboard would move around collecting the food. We’re looking forward to hopefully seeing some birds in the garden over the next few days!
Chloe has been helping us make slime, she got the ingredients ready for us and helped us mix them all together to create stretchy, gooey slime! We enjoyed exploring the texture and stretching it ’high to the sky!’
We’ve also enjoyed time I the library, looking and reading some of our favourite books. We used one of our story sacks, in the sack was the book ‘Mrs Honey’s Hat’ and lots of different props to help tell the story. In the book Mrs Honey is distracted by the activities she doing, so different animals and children swap things off of her hat. We had a go at putting different things on Mrs Honey’s hat too!
Pre-School
In Pre-School this week, we have talked about insects! Leona showed us some pictures of leaf insects and we had a go at trying to point them out, some were really well hidden! Afterwards, we made our own leaf insects, by sticking a leaf on our paper and drawing six legs around it, to finish we added some googly eyes.
We’ve been talking lots about space this week, one of our activities included making own planets and we used balloons with paint to print onto the paper. It was lots of fun seeing the different patterns we made!
We were told all about the northern lights on Friday and shown some pictures of what they look like, we were fascinated by all the different colours! We then went on to make our own northern lights using chalk and cotton pads. We drew lines with the chalk and then used the cotton pads to smudge the lines.
