Nursery
This week in Nursery we have been exploring our new natural resources! We picked up all the different objects, enjoying the different shapes and textures. A particular favourite was the brush, as we recognised this from role playing as hairdressers! We brushed our hair as well as offering to brush the adult's hair too.
We've also been exploring different sensory bags! We were very bold, picking up each bag which contained a different mixture. The adults helped us describe what we might be feeling - squishy paint, soft cotton wool - which helps us with our communication and language skills!
Kindergarten
In Kindergarten this week we have been super busy with a range of activities! From roleplaying in the yurt with costumes and pretend food, to getting stuck into the sand tray in the garden!
To start the week we began with a more engaging way to do puzzles, we had to unwrap them out of their foil and then find their place. This kept us engaged for longer as we did not know what piece we would reveal!
In the Art Studio we have been practicing our fine motor skills by using scissors with support of adults, as well as some mark making with our colourful dabbers. We have really been getting the hang
of it.
We have also been enjoying our new Mr. Potato head toy, this helps us identity different parts of the face and body. To finish a fantastic week, we went on a trip to the local park and had lots of fun
zooming down the slides and rocking in the swings!
Pre-School
This week in Pre-School we took a trip to the dining room to engage further with our core book, The Snail and the Whale! We made playdough together and used wooden stencils to re-create the designs of the characters on the surface of the dough.
We also spent time cutting up our own fruit for snack this week! First of all we talked about the importance of washing our hands, we discussed how any germs we might have on our hands would be washed away. We then tried cutting up the different pieces of fruit, and had a great conversation about our favourite foods!
Out in the garden we have been exploring the musical instruments! Using the beaters we tapped against the triangles and xylophone, using our words to describe the sounds we could hear. We then experimented with making sounds louder, quieter, faster and slower!
