Nursery
This week in Nursery we got creative with a squishy foam tray! The foam was mixed with paint, so when we got stuck in with our hands we noticed all the colours would move and blend together. We also used the bulb paint brushes, gripping them confidently to mix everything together!
We had lots of fun creating a den this week! We used the blankets, draping them over the resources and crawling inside. We think Chelsea might have enjoyed this activity as much as we did!
In the Art Studio we used our toy dinosaurs to make artwork! We pressed them into paint and stomp-stomp-stomped them all over the paper. We also showed off our best dinosaur ROAR!
Kindergarten
This week in Kindergarten we have been getting creative with our tuff trays! At the start of the week we explored a tray that helped us celebrate Maha Shivaratri, a Hindu festival. The tray was filled with a mandala flower and lots of different resources such as sequins, that we used to make it sparkle!
Later in the week we discovered it was International Polar Bear Day, so we got stuck into a tray full of blue and white gloop and some ice cubes. We talked about how polar bears live in the Arctic, which is very cold and full of ice and snow!
In the garden we explored the sandpit, using our imaginations to make yummy 'dinners' to share with our peers and adults. We also did some mark making on our outdoor art table using pencils. We loved our tuff tray in the garden too, which was full of big diggers and lorries! We noticed these would also leave tire marks and trails in our sand tray.
Pre-School
This week in Pre-School we got stuck into our new Core Book for this term - The Very Hungry Caterpillar! We've been reading through the story and exploring the all the fruits and foods the caterpillar munches throughout the week. It's also helped us with our number recognition!
There have been some lovely sunny days here at Downend so we've really enjoyed our outdoor play! We've been so active, running around catching bubbles and clambering up and down our wooden resources.
Back inside we took part in a group activity around our feelings. We read the book The Colour Monster, and talked about how different emotions can be represented by different colours. We then drew our own monsters, which represented how we were feeling that day!
