Nursery
This week Nursery we have been welcoming back our friends after a Christmas break!
We have been exploring fancy dress costumes where we have been picking our own costume ideas from the rail. We have been dressing up in great outfits and looking at ourselves in the mirrors to see what we look like! We dressed up as princesses, vets, and lots of others.
We really like looking at the fishes in the bubbly tank and watching them float around super fast. We watched all the colour changes as well!
Lastly we have been having a game of pekaboo where we have been hiding inside the teepee and scarring the adults and shouting BOO! We even began hiding behind a blanket!
Kindergarten
We've had a busy week back in Kindergarten after the Christmas break! We've been focusing on healthy eating and learning about different types of food that can make us fit and strong. First we role played using fruit and other yummy foods in the mud kitchen outdoors, we then role played indoors - pretending to buy our vegetables and fruit at the Red Bus fruit & veg shop! Then we carefully chopped them up and fed them to our babies.
Later on in the week, we went down to the dining room and did
some chopping for real! We listened to the instructions about how to chop safely before we embarked on some chopping of bananas and pears with safety knives. The fruit was then blended up for us to have some delicious smoothies at snack time.
The chopping has really helped us develop our motor skills, as have the other activities we have taken part in. We've been using tweezers to pick up slimy green spaghetti in the tuff tray as well as creepy crawlies in our muddy insect tuff tray! We've been enjoying scooping and pouring with sand in the sand tray, completing puzzles, as well as lots of mark making indoors and outdoors!
Pre-School
This week in Pre-School we took a trip to the dining room to read the story of the Very Hungry Caterpillar! After hearing the story, the adults encouraged us to draw our own pictures of the caterpillar life cycle before we cut up fruit for our own fruit salad!
We have also been very interested in the new foam blocks that arrived this week. It's inspired so many different creations, from building and balancing tall towers to working out we could create letters and numbers from the shapes!
We were also excited to see the snow and frost out in the garden this week! We ran around and explored how and where the frost had fallen, and pretended to be Elsa from Frozen!
