This week in Flax Bourton we have been celebrating British Science Week with lots of new activities!
In the art room we had different smells and textures to explore in the tuff tray. The adults sat with us and encouraged to touch and smell things such as toothpaste, shaving foam and hair conditioner and teabags. We got stuck in using all our senses!
In the big garden we been exploring our environment with the adults, looking at and smelling the flowers. We were able to say what colour they were and helped to give them a good water! The adults explained that the water would help them grow. We also spent time on the bikes and climbing equipment.
Back in the nursery room we been cooking in the home corner making yummy cakes for our friends! We've also been learning to ride a scuttle bug for the first time. Water world been so much fun we been using different items available in the box to scoop and pour.
To finish the week was ice painting, we held the brushes and painted over the ice. Some of us picked up the ice which felt very cold!
This week in Kindergarten we have made the most of our fantastic spaces and resources. In our dedicated courtyard we have explored in our sand tray. We have all been really engaged in using tools, buckets and different toys to make great sandy play adventures! The adults have also helped us to develop our imagination with our small world animals and our home corner resources. We like to talk about the animals names, the noises they make and where they might live. We also pretend to eat all the yummy food from our home corner and discuss and learn about different types of food and how they help us grow.
In the garden we have practiced our coordination, balance and climbing skills! We used the balls to practice aiming them into the net and score a goal. With the hoops we had to try to jump with both feet together from one hoop to the other. It was a big tricky but we kept trying. We are all trying really hard to work and develop our balancing skills on the grass climber and balance beams. We first have a try with the adults where they hold our hand to support us to walk across. They then tell us to look ahead, hold our arms out to keep balanced and walk slowly with one foot in front of the other to get across safely.
We have all enjoyed using our different creative accessories to make pictures, patterns and designs. We had to use sticky glue to stick coloured gem shapes to paper. We looked at the different shapes and colours of the gems and spoke about what colours were our favourites!
This week in Pre-School has been a blast! Its British Science Week, we have explored many experiments such as skittles in water, watching the colours move and blend.
As it's almost time for Spring, we decided to plant some green beans, broad beans and cucumbers! Inside building yet again has been very popular and we have been building houses for our toy zoo animals. We have had super fun making giant bubbles by dipping a hula hoop in bubbly water.
Outside we have, of course, been on the balance bikes and obstacle courses. By using the loose parts area, many dens have been made. We had lots of fun bird watching and guessing what the bird is called. We have been taking part in yoga and to top the week off, we sat by the firepit and watched Katie cook us some pancakes. Well done for a fab week!
