This Week at Flax Bourton

Nursery

This week in Flax Bourton we have been reading our Core Book "The Three Little Pigs". Some of us can say "pig" and "wolf". In the art room we painted some paper plates pink which we are going to turn into pigs to decorate the walls. The adults asked us what colour we were using and we were able to say "pink"!

We also got stuck in making play dough! We helped to spoon some flour into the bowl and give it a mix, the adults added water and salt and asked what colour we like - we pointed to blue paint. We helped squeeze some of the blue paint and give another mix. The dough was placed on three tables mixed then handed to each of us to explore. We sat and squeezed it squashed it until it was flat and made lots different shapes using the cutters!

Outside on the terrace garden, we explored different shaped frozen red ice to paint with water. The adults talked about all the different sizes from big, medium and small. We used the paint brushes to rub over the ice watching as it melted!

To finish the week some us took a trip to the local park we ran around first playing football with our friends and adults. In the park we sat on the net swing together and whizzed down the slide. Saying " words like "yay" we had a yummy snack in the sun and headed back to nursery!

Kindergarten

To start the week in Kindergarten we have been on a very busy building site full of sand! We had to mix the sand to get it to the right consistency to become cement so we could try and stick all of the blocks together. We would use the diggers to move the sand around the building site, but to make it a bit quicker we also used the spades to move the sand around the building site!

We then explored the new chalk boards and created the most beautiful picture using a variety of chalks which we would then wipe them clean to do it all over again, these chalk boards where extra cool as we could hold them and show our friends our pictures after!

We had then explored the mini duck pond where they had there very own water slide we would let them swim around the pound and then very carefully we would pick them up and put them at the top of slide and watch them slide down at very fast speed!

We had went on a treasure hunt at Sand Land. We had used the spades to see what you could find in the sand. As we were digging, we had found a truck, blocks and lots more!

We then went on a great walk to the park. Where most of us had shown an interest in the swings, so Nicole pushed us on them, and then you had noticed the roundabout, so we all joined in together to try and turn the centre, but it was a bit tricky, so Jayla and Isabella had helped us! What a busy week in Kindergarten!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School has been super fun! We have been practicing counting and recognising numbers with our new equipment. We have also been reading our Core Book - Jack and the Beanstalk - and creating amazing activities based on it, such as creating our own bean stalk out of boxes!

Helicopter Stories has been very popular this week, the children have been creating amazing scenes when acting their own stories out in front of friends. We have done lots of building, artwork and of course dressing up!

Outside we have had super fun tuff trays such as water fun and animals! The sandpit has been a popular place to be this week, the children have been digging holes and building mountains! Of course the balance bikes have been a favourite as always, and so have the obstacle courses. Well done Pre-School for another wonderful week, have a lovely weekend!
