This Week at Flax Bourton

Nursery

This week we have been interested in Sand Land, spending time digging with spades both inside and outside on the sunny rooftop garden! We kept filling our buckets right up to the top to make sandcastles, asking the adults for help lifting and tipping the heavy buckets.

Every day we also get the chance to spend time outside in our lower garden! We have been really fascinated with the fallen leaves blowing around on the ground, whilst playing on the trikes and in the mud kitchen. To warm up we went into the dining room for snack, and to have a go on the interactive whiteboard! We got to try out pressing different animal buttons, enjoying the noises we made.

Back in Nursery the sun was shining through the window onto the carpet, and the adults showed us that if we stood the sensory blocks upright all their beautiful colours would make a pattern on the floor! We sat and pointed to each colour, then the adults encouraged us to put our hands out so we could see the colours reflected onto us. Wow!

To end the week we went into the garden to enjoy the sunshine! We did some running, playing with the hula hoops and even some balancing with the help of an adult!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we have been busy on lots of adventure! We started by going on a great animal safari - during group time we had spoken about all of the different animals we may see of our great adventure…so we headed out to the decking to see our own great safari but with a twist, these animals were living on
a sandy foam land! We picked up a variety of animals and created paw prints within the foam.

We had then moved on to drawing self-portraits together, where we would look in the mirror together and draw what we could see! The self-portraits were amazing and could be mistaken for a Vincent Van Gogh original! We then used our photo frames to practice pulling funny faces, and trying out different emotions.

To continue the week we had a bit of construction work that needed to be done around the setting - moving all of our colourful blocks into different places! Some of us would use the trucks to move them around, and some of us would fill a magic bucket and carry them around. We had also made a slope for our cars to travel down; they had gone super fast down the slope!

We have been in extra spooky spirit as Halloween approaches! We had started our day by painting the largest spider ever! We then moved on to giving the spooky gooey water a stir, and lots of different things appeared; there were ghosts, spiders, and eyes. Eek - too scary for me!

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School has been super fun! Inside we have had a very busy time doing mark making. This ranged from painting trees, pumpkins and spiders to drawing different things with our stencils.

We have some new toys to explore in Pre-School, one of them being a hospital kit. We looked at some pictures of an x- ray and bandaged our friends up!

Lego has been a favourite this week. We have been building dinosaur houses, towers and even a castle for Mr Potato
Head! Firemen ihave been on the rescue again this week, saving people from tall towers and big houses.

On the decking we have been super creative. We made gloop one day, which was so fascinating! We then hung up a big sheet of paper and splatted paint on it!

Outside in the garden we have been jumping in hulla hoops, walking along the obstacle courses and of course on the balance bikes!

To top the week off we picked up lots of leaves in the garden which we are leaving in Pre-School for the weekend to
dry up so next week we can decorate them! Well done for a wonderful week, have a lovely weekend!
