This week in Flax Bourton we been spending time in the art area doing some painting on some shining tin foil! We choose the brush or sponge we wanted to use saying words like "brush" and "paint". We rubbed the brush across making lots of pretty patterns.
In the tuff tray we had sand, mud, and trucks! We got stuck in driving them across the different surfaces saying words like "mud" and "truck".
We have been spending lots time in the home corner this week making cups tea and stirring the food around in a bowl for the first time liking the sounds it makes! With our friends we been pulling ourself up to stand in this area with big smiles for the adults while exploring the cake and food in front us.
To finish the week some of us took part in a cooking activity which was making yummy oat biscuits! We took it in turns to have a go at independently placing in the sugar and raisins then giving it a good mix. We listened beautifully to what we needed to do next. We watched as the nursery cook Jacqui showed us how to place the mixer onto the tray to make each biscuit shape, then she explained how she was then going to place them into the oven for them to cook so that we could eat them once they had cooled!
This week in Kindergarten, we have been exploring a different way to paint! We had lots of mop heads so we decided to use these for painting. We did this both inside and outside. We used the mops to collect the paint and then spread all the pretty colours onto the paper. We also watched the paint mix in the tray as we moved the mop in the paint. The children enjoyed this, engaging with a new way to paint!
We have a game with frogs in Kindergarten! The game has scales so children can understand weight that is the same and weight that is different. The children put a number on one side and then one by one, picked the frogs out of the bag until the number of frogs were the same as the number they picked. The children have enjoyed learning and playing with this game, supporting their turn taking too.
Lots of the children have been playing with our wooden building blocks this week. The children have built some super tall towers, carefully balancing the bricks on top of each other. A child used their imagination to create stick man out of the wooden bricks! The children pointed to the legs, arms, tummy and other areas of stickman's body.
In the tuff tray, the children made exciting potions! Using shaving foam, paint and rice crispies, the children mixed some wonderful and colourful potions. The children matched the colours to the same bowl and also chose to make even bigger potions, mixing colours together!
This week in Pre-School has been filled with fun! We have been ever so busy with mark making, using different materials such as tracing around shapes, painting, cutting and sticking.
Puzzles have been a favourite this week! We have a new puzzle with different safari animals on it which encouraged the children to work hard and complete it. We had a special treat this week in which we went to the screen to play the dinosaur game!
Outside in the garden has also been a blast! We have been doing super well in selling our ice creams to everyone which were made by cones and balls from our loose parts area. Waterfalls, roads and houses have also been created in the garden this week from our loose parts area. Bug hunting is still very popular in Pre-School.
This week many more ladybugs were found and many other extraordinary creatures were also found. To top the week off, we also took part in a a yoga class. Well done for another wonderful week. We hope you have a lovely weekend!
