This Week at Flax Bourton

Nursery

This week in Flax Bourton we have been practising our counting and colour recognition with the hula hoops! In the big garden the adults encouraged us to find the different colours, we had fun running around as they shouted 'red' 'green' and 'blue'. In the end there was such a big pile - wow!

It was World Frog Day this week, so in our Water World we used nets to move around and scoop up the different coloured frogs. The adults asked us what we had found, we were able to repeat the word 'frog' and make ribbiting sounds! We also sang songs about frogs which we enjoyed bouncing around to.

In the rooftop garden we used jugs to scoop up the water and pour it down the pipes, watching as it made a big SPLASH! The next day we pushed toy cars down the pipes, watching as they whizzed along towards the bottom.

In home corner we been sitting and making some yummy food and having a little taste! In the Book Nook we sat with our friends to look and listen to a variety books. To finish the week we explored the dinosaurs we were fascinated looking at the sharp teeth and making different sounds - roar!

Kindergarten

This week in kindergarten we have been working on developing our fine motor skills with a range of activities. In the garden we have used the chalk to make, create and draw some pictures! Back inside we have been exploring with our crafting accessories and are working on being able to peel the backing off of the stickers. It is a bit tricky but we keep trying and listen to the instructions of the adults.

Throughout the week we explore lots of different activities with and alongside our friends. We are learning to take turns as we play, help out some of our younger friends and support each other to achieve a new task or challenge!

We also take some time to play independently and use our imagination to make up games. We like to read some of our favourite books and talk about the different characters, pretend the grass climber is a steep mountain or the tunnel is cave. Playing these types of games helps us develop our speech, confidence and social skills!
