This week in Flax Bourton we have been spent lots of time outdoors with our new Water World resources! We used the funnels to transport water from one place to another, and watched as the water ran through the pipes and down into the bowls. We explored scooping the water and putting it back, creating lots of bubbles and splashes!
We also took part in lots of building this week. We carefully stacked the blocks on top of one another, then knocking them down which was very fun! The adults incorporated squishy foam 'cement' into our play, which provided fun new textures and sensory exploration!
We have also been concentrating on our fine motor skills, as we explored the shape sorters. We focused really well, attempting to push the pieces through the different shaped holes. We learned that by twisting and turning the pieces, we can make them fit! We clapped and cheered each time we did this.
This week in Kindergarten, Tash created a boat for us on the decking! The children explored the different elements, including a mop to swab the deck! They pretended to clean the floor of the boat, moving the mop left and right.
We also explored the sea! The children made the sea animals splash in the water. We had bubbles in the air which the children jumped up to pop! The children also listen to stories sat down on the boat.
Later on in the week, the decking was set up as a wand shop! The children used lots of different paint, glitter and tape to create their wands to take home. We made lots of spells, waving our wands in the air. The adults made wands too so they could join in casting spells.
Last week, the children enjoyed making potions. We followed this interest and made potions in the water tray instead this week. We had water, sequins, glitter and pom poms in water that was dyed blue! The children put their potions into jars, carefully deciding what they wanted in their potion.
This week in Pre-School we have been saying goodbye to all the older children that are off to school next week! We have loved joining you on your Red Bus journey and wish you all the best of luck at school.
This week they have really enjoyed lots of messy play activities, like
saving the dinosaurs from a volcano! They have been creating lots of colour bubbles - POP!
The children also took part in an experiment using pepper and soap. They saw how using soap pushes away the pepper - the adults explained that soap helps keep our hands clean, which is why we should all wash our hands!
They did very good team work this week, and worked together to create an airplane using the wooden blocks. They decided they were flying off to sunny Spain in their airplane!
