This Week at Flax Bourton

Nursery

Christmas has come to Nursery! Our parents and families were invited to come and join us for an afternoon of arts & crafts. Christmas music played while we took part in painting Christmas shaped salt dough in different colours then sticking on sparkly sequins. We also explored play dough with Christmas cutters, and made snowmen from paper plates with different shapes for the eyes, nose and mouth using glue to stick. We were able to say words like "snowman" and "glue"!

Outside in the rooftop garden we been working together to build towers from the foam blocks. We counted as we placed each piece on, saying "oh dear" when the tower fell down. Once it did we started again to build more!

To finish the week some of us went for a trip to the local park with our siblings. First we splashed around in the puddles together getting very wet, then we had a go on the swings and practiced our climbing on the circle climbing frame, and watched our siblings explore too! It was a bit wet in the park so we came back to nursery for a snack and drink together.

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten... we had started the week by
decorating our reindeer calendar's ready for the new year; we had then gotten into
the Christmas spirit and helped build the Christmas tree together, and then we very
carefully helped choose decorations for the tree and put them on. We had then gone
onto the decking where we had found the polar bears in the snow: we had explored
the outside of the snowy train tracks while the trains went around the track. We had all
then gone to the big garden where we had played hide and seek, and you would
empty and fill all of the containers within the mud kitchen.
In Kindergarten we have been very busy beans. We had chosen from a selection of
beans with your friends, and then we had all turned into the chosen bean. It has been
a busy morning full of jumping, running, and sleeping!
we have been extra busy this week making lots of Christmas crafts, and we even
made Christmas crowns ready for our special Christmas dinner. We had then read our
storybook of the term, but the Christmas edition is called "Oh No! Shark in the snow!"
Timothy Pope had gotten a book about a telescope for Christmas, and Dad had
gotten some hair gel so he can have some extra shiny hair. We had then moved on to
playing with our extra festive gloop filled with snowflakes.

Pre-School

This week in Pre-School...This week in preschool has been brilliant.
Inside the festivity has carried on as we made more Christmas decorations, put up
our Christmas tree and had a Christmas dinner party! We made our very own
Christmas crowns and decorated/created our table cloths for the event. Lots of mark
making had been done this week from all of the wonderful festive pictures we have
drawn, along with painting and cutting various objects. Games have been played
such as bingo and babies and we have even written a letter to Father Christmas to let
him know what we would like for the big day!
Outside we have of course been on the famous balance bikes, racing around the
track on foot and creating a little village. We had an ice cream shop, a bus station
and a dance house! This week some of our friends went on a sibling day out! They
went to the park to enjoy some quality time with each other.
Back inside something has been very mischievous, or should I say someone...... the elf
has returned! He has been doing some very cheeky things around the room which the
children of pre school have found astonishing! Well done pre school for a wonderful
week!
