This week in Flax Bourton, we have been busy in the art room making our straw house! We used glue to spread and stick on straw, afterwards we had pigs to move around in the straw saying "oink oink"!
Once all our beautiful houses were made we had the chance to dress up as a pig and sit in each box house with big smiles. We had fun playing peek a boo with our friends too whilst the adults read the story and pretended to be the wolf!
We wrapped up warm and took a trip to the local park where we kept warm by running around on the grass playing football. We played in the park and sat down on the mat for a yummy snack in the sunshine!
To finish the week we explored a tuff tray full of shredded paper we sat in and had lots fun exploring the texture using our hands. And had fun out in the lower garden in the mud kitchen and playing football!
This week in Kindergarten we have worked on developing our fine motor skills using chopsticks to pick up playdough noodles in the tuff tray. We have been celebrating Lunar New Year and have learnt about the celebrations the have, the foods they eat and even some Chinese words.
Another activity we have really enjoyed exploring this week is colour mixing. We worked together in our play to mix, experiment and match colours. In the tuff tray we made a deep blue see for our sea animals so they could swim jump about. The animals mixed blue paint and water together.
In a group activity we painted our hands in the three prime colours red, blue and yellow. We then looked at how these colours can be mixed together to create new colours of orange, green and purple! We spoke about how all these colours can form a rainbow and sang the song together to help us remember them.
Then in another tuff tray activity we found similarities of colours with pom poms. We had to use tweezers to pick up the pom poms we used a strong pincer grip to hold the tweezers tightly on the pompom and carefully moved them around the tray to the matching colour pot to put them in.
This week in Pre-School we have been doing lots of activities around emotions! The children have been drawing pictures to represent how they our feeling. They have been completing 'Inside Out' worksheets where they had to draw the right feeling in the different picture frames.
Pre-School have also been exploring the new 3D shapes in the maths area!
It was National Hedgehog Day on Sunday and this week children have been creating their own hedgehog. They used a tent peg to create some holes in an apple. They then stuck some sticks in the holes to create some spikes on their hedgehogs!
Inside in the building area, they have been creating towers with the card-tubes!
