This Week at Flax Bourton

Nursery

This week in Flax Bourton, we began by exploring a colourful tuff tray filled with gloop, foam, and sprinkles! The adults encouraged us to move our hands through, experiences the different textures and exploring how it feels and smells. We were able to say words like 'sticky' and 'blue!'

In the Nursery rooftop garden, we have been exploring mark making on the chalkboard! We used lots of different colours, working together to make a big collaborative picture. We also explored the plastic piping, placing balls at the top and saying 'wow' as they rolled all the way to the end and dropped!

Out in the big garden we have been practicing our coordination, throwing and catching with the tennis rackets and balls. We passed to and fro with our adults, some of us where able to catch the football in our arms which we were very proud of! We also practiced our climbing skills on the bridge, going up and down and laughing with our peers. We also had the chance to visit the Cosy Cabin to chill out and explore a dinosaur themed small world activity!

Kindergarten

This week in Kindergarten we opened our own chocolate-themed bakery! We carefully measured out the flour before adding to a bowl, then gave it a big stir before adding the mixture to cupcake cases. Off we went to the home corner to pop them in the oven - they were the yummiest chocolate cakes ever!

Later on, we let the magic happen in Kindergarten! Using our imagination, we explored a whole new world using our magic wands. When we picked up the sticks, they became magical - wow! We turned each other into frogs, fairies, and dragons.

We then found the trucks in the forest; they had driven through the giant pile of leaves and up and down the ramps at lots of different speeds!

We have also been extra-super-busy elves helping Santa out - not by
wrapping up presents, but learning how to cut his beard! Jayla said it had grown far too long, so we needed to give it a trim. The adults supported us to use the scissors to snip-snip-snip, which was a great challenge for us!

Pre-School

What a festive week we have had in Pre-School!

Inside we have been creating lots of decorations to take home, from Christmas trees to baubles. We have also taken an interest in cooking this week and we have made our very own mince pies which we got to take home to enjoy!

The small world area has been popular this week, with building train tracks and bigger tracks for our cars, trucks and planes. Some of us have had fun creating narratives with the characters from our dolls house as well.

We kept the festivity flowing out in the garden when we turned our
balance bikes into reindeer and sleighs! We have also been creating Christmas food for Santa in our mud kitchen. On the decking we've had lots of cool activities in our tuff tray such as dino land and snow land!

To top the week off we've had various visits from our cheeky elf, who one morning put a spell on our breakfast so we had to eat magical Christmas cereal!
